The Fall General Membership Meeting Agenda includes Greetings from Dean Brian Peterson, Mariel Villeré, and Barbara Marwell, a New Member Video, the Presentation of Amended LP² Guidelines* by Michael Kessler, Vice Chair and Chair of the Guidelines Revision Committee, Strategic Planning Project by Barbara Marwell and the Return of the LP² Art Players with John Becker and Howie Menikoff. Geraldine Brooks and Her Approach to Historical Fiction

Kicking off Friday@1’s Fall webinar series will be a conversation with Australian-born journalist and prize-winning storyteller, Geraldine Brooks. Member Carolyn Setlow will query Brooks, author of best sellers Horse (her most recent novel), March (for which she won a Pulitzer Prize), Caleb’s Crossing, Year of Wonders, People of the Book, and The Secret Chord, about her approach to historical fiction –  the relationship between fact and fiction in her novels; her choice of time periods, characters, and language; her research process; and the role of historical fiction in our civil dialogue on issues such as race and injustice.  Read more…
