What We Publish

The Observer

LP2 publishes a weekly online newsletter, The Observer, to keep members informed on everything they need to know about LP2. It is emailed to all members on Mondays during the fall and spring semesters and occasionally during the summer session. It includes all important LP2 news and events, including reports from the Director and Advisory Board, and essential information on study group registration, meetings, trainings, lectures, volunteer opportunities, surveys, and election plans for LP2 Board members. The Member Forum section includes suggestions about activities in and around NYC, and other member contributions such as art, photos, and short reflections. Details for CUNY Graduate Center events of particular interest are also included. Read about the The Observer’s History

Fridays@1: The Videos

Three times each semester, Fridays@1 offers a program with a well-known speaker on a newsworthy subject to LPmembers, the CUNY community and the general public. These presentations, which are followed by a Q&A session, provide intellectual stimulation and a chance for the community to come together. Full recordings of past Fridays@1 (and, previously, Fridays@3) events dating back to the Fall of 2020 are included and all future Fridays@1 are added going forward.

Voices is LP2’s literary magazine, in which members proudly share their artistic and creative endeavors. It appears annually in an online publication filled with members’ poetry, fiction, non-fiction and photography. In the past, it has also been available in a print version. The Voices editors are knowledgeable readers, writers and photographers who solicit and select submissions from LP2 members and then work with the creators to ready them for publication.
